Candidates for office can file with the Secretary of State to run in 2020 beginning Monday.

The last day for incumbents to file is Feb. 18, and the last day for nonincumbents is March 2.

The Nebraska primary election is May 12, and the general election will be Nov. 3.

Secretary of State Robert Evnen advised anyone considering a candidacy to check with the Accountability and Disclosure Commission about the forms required to be filed and the rules that should be followed.

Instructions, filing fees and the official 2020 elections calendar are online at the Secretary of State website, sos.ne.gov. Or call the Elections Division at 402-471-2555.
